Former deputy to stand trial for child abuse and aggravated assault
A magistrate judge ruled evidence sufficient to charge former Chaves County deputy David Bradshaw, 43, with child abuse and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon over a March 18 incident in Roswell. He faced up to six and a half years in prison if convicted. Bradshaw pleaded not guilty on April 27.

Local business owners challenge city fleet RFP decision
Eight Roswell area businesspeople from four firms criticized the evaluation committee deeming local bidders unfairly excluded as the city considers awarding the fleet maintenance contract to an out-of-state firm First Vehicle. Local water rights fund boosts Artesian Basin defense
The Pecos Valley Artesian Conservancy District received a 20000 donation from Roswell Artesia Water Users to support the legal defense for landowners in the Artesian Basin. The fund, started in the 1960s, backs a long running suit asserting earlier priority rights based on historic irrigation. District officials say about 20000 acres are affected by the dispute.
