Marijuana Haul Seized In New Orleans Trafficking Bust
Federal Narcotics Bureau regional director Jerry Jenson and Cap Donald Reed inspect about 30 kilos of marijuana seized in New Orleans. Five men four college students and a man described as a significant trafficker were arrested after delivering the contraband to an undercover agent. Jenson estimates the haul could net 72 thousand cigarettes worth of grass.

Embassy Staff Member Dies in Amman Fighting
An American staff member at the U S Embassy in Amman was killed amid fighting in the Jordanian capital. Ma j Robert P Perry of Chicago was the assistant Army Attache, married with two sons, with his wife and one son present. Embassy Chancery and hotel occupants came under sniper fire as 14 Americans were held at the Intercontinental Hotel by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. The State Department warned Americans to stay out of Jordan as the airport remained closed and fighting continued.
