Confederate veterans prepare for Louisville events as the annual reunion expected to surpass all prior gatherings in attendance and splendor. Generals, surgeons, and Sons of Confederate Veterans plan to attend, with a large ball at the Galt House and open houses by the Daughters of the Confederacy.
Ossining NY June 10 Albert T Patrick learned the New York Supreme Court of Appeals has sustained his first degree murder conviction in the death of William M Rice. Patrick, at breakfast, said a motion for a new trial would be made on newly discovered evidence. A local plant sale ad appears at the end of the item.
Former President Grover Cleveland George Westinghouse and Morgan J O Bri en named as trustees of the Equitable Life Assurance Society in New York on June 19 Secretary of the Navy Paul Morton will resign July 1 to join the board and aims to act for policyholders best interests Cleveland had been discussed as a trustee and may yet accept Berlin draft for a US Germany commercial treaty outlines reciprocity and tariff concessions.
A representative of the President of the Storthing delivered the dissolution notice to King Oscar in Stockholm. The document announced the dissolution of the union between Sweden and Norway, which the King had previously refused to accept.

Mr and Mrs J S Alton and son Arlie left for Kansas with Mr Alton taking over a Pratt barber shop.

William H. Lenox leaves for Lancaster Missouri where he will marry Miss Magdalena Figge daughter of Mr and Mrs C Figge who spent the winter in Roswell and are well known here. Jno W Dummin secretary of Taylor Moore Construction Co travels to Hillsboro Texas to discuss bonding company payroll for Honda reservoir work. W J Warren sells 227 acre farm to H J Throde of Sioux City Iowa in third deal totaling upwards of 511000 in valley realty. James H Dickenson Elmer Gimlin Taylorsville Mads O A Sweitzer Philadelphia Ohio depart for Dixieland after an excursion to inspect farms east of the City.
H. E. Bruce of Sweetwater Texas has been in the city for several days looking for a location to establish a business college.
Tre Roswell Creamery Co expects to ship the machinery for their skim ming plant at Elida early next week. F A Wiedman of Chicago a Farm Life representative left for Lakewood and Carlsbad last night. Twenty three Mexicans left Roswell today to work for the Fort Worth and Denver road. H H Grassie of Florida Shoe Co left for Amarillo. Robt Perryman went to Amarillo then Montague Texas. Mr and Mrs J W Wilson and daughter Bess left for McKinney. H C Elrick of Dexter returned home last evening.
Washington June 10. General Corbin reports Captain Cromwell Stacy led 60 men of Company KE, 21st Infantry, and Company Z of the 28th Philippine Scouts to surprise the Pulajanes camp near Catubig Daguhob. Forty Pulajanes killed, six captured, arms and records taken. No deaths, two wounded on our side. Daguhohb’s death ends a fanatic in Samar.
In Lancaster Pennsylvania on June 10 the rent for Zion's Lutheran Church in Manheim becomes due and will be paid with a single red rose under an 1792 agreement with Baron Stiegel. The Feast of Roses draws Governor Pennypacker and Congressman LeEean. Miss Martha Horning of Newport will receive the rose for the heirs.
Brussels reports Ostend hosts the international masters tournament with F. J. Marshall of Brooklyn as the only American entrant. Lasker Taraschk Maróczy Janowski head the European field. Preliminary rounds start today and regular play begins Monday. Prizes total two thousand five hundred dollars.
