Juneteenth Event Set at ENMU Roswell Saturday
ENMU Roswell will host a Juneteenth event Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. via ENMU-R GEAR UP. Academic Advisor James Edwards says the program includes a mini health fair refreshments and informational activities to explain the meaning of Juneteenth, a federal holiday dating from post Civil War Texas.

Roswell man arrested on child sex charges
Manuel Pena a 45 year old Roswell resident was arrested on a single count of criminal sexual penetration of a minor. Police say the alleged abuse occurred multiple times from December 2015 to June 2021 with a relative starting when the girl was 11 and ending at 16. The case came to light after an adult relative found messages in August 2023.

Roswell Finance Committee backs cemetery columbarium project
The Roswell Finance Committee reviewed about two dozen items and endorsed an Infrastructure Committee plan to build a South Park Cemetery Columbarium Plaza using only available funds. The project, tied to a 1883 cemetery with 210 acres and over 30,000 interments, was initially approved around $850,000 but later increased in cost.
