El Paso Electric warns of possible outages amid wildfire fallout
Fire threat triggers warnings for customers in southern New Mexico and West Texas as wind gusts up to 35 mph complicate suppression. The Palo Verde lines feed about 40 percent of the utility’s 372 000 customers and could cause rolling blackouts if severed. Firefighters combat a massive Arizona blaze, with costs near 8 million and help from crews across several states, while another wildfire threatens Alpine Greer and Nutrioso.
