Detroit June 8 Henry Ford said under certain conditions he could produce 11 000 airplanes daily for defense. He asked that an army plane design be sent to his airport for his engineers to inspect and explain. Johnson said the plane would be sent to Detroit Monday and Ford planned a dummy line to test production after selecting a standard type.

The 7,216 ton Chilean liner Copiapo was towed to an anchorage off the Panama Canal channel after striking Cristobal harbor’s west breakwater. All 110 passengers and the crew were rescued without injury. A passenger from Albuquerque, Miss Alice Hawk, asked relatives to be reassured that she is safe.
A joint probe by the state taxpayers and education associations says justice court procedures may cost New Mexico schools at least 12000 dollars annually. The inquiry will cover assessment and remittance of fines under state general laws, with funds constitutionally directed to the common school current fund.

Santa Fe June 8 State Highway Engineer Burton Dwyre defended safety efforts in Albuquerque noting the city already benefited from a north Fourth Street underpass funded entirely by the state. He dismissed Mayor Clyde Tingley’s plea for a state funded East Central Avenue underpass near the high school and affirmed Albuquerque must share municipal development duties. Governor Miles, en route between Clovis and Deming, could not comment immediately.

Mayor Clyde Tingley disclosed a planned mechanized ROTC column of about 1450 cadets would march from El Paso and Fort Bliss through Dona Ana Organ Mountains Hot Springs Roswell Carlsbad to Santa Fe for an eight day exercise with street fighting imagined in Albuquerque before returning to Fort Bliss.

Cecil Bonney, president, urges all sportsmen including fishermen and hunters, members or not, to attend.
