Continual Search for Megumi Yokota Strains Japan North Korea Talks
The Yokota family keeps a hopeful vigil over Megumi Yokota and other abductees as Japan and North Korea clash over numbers and fates. North Korea acknowledges abducting 13 in 2002 but disputes other claims and the authenticity of ashes. DNA tests in Japan refute the ashes as Megumi. The Yokotas later traveled to Mongolia in 2014, seeking any contact with Megumi.
