Judge halts Trump plan to shutter Job Corps program

A federal judge temporarily blocked the Trump administration from eliminating the Job Corps, the nation’s leading workforce development program for disadvantaged youth. District Judge Andrew L. Carter Jr. enjoined the Labor Department from shutdown actions without Congress, with a June 17 hearing set to decide on extending the restraining order. The Labor Department said it will comply. The suit, filed by the National Job Corps Association and seven other groups, challenges directives issued May 29.
