Drosselmeyer Wins 142nd Belmont Stakes
Drosselmeyer, a 3 year old colt trained by Bill Mott and ridden by Mike Smith, won the Belmont Stakes at Belmont Park finishing ahead of First Dude and Fly Down in the 1 1/2 mile race. The victory ended Smith's Belmont drought and marked Mott’s first Triple Crown race win. Fly Down placed second, First Dude third, with Ice Box fading to ninth in the 12 horse field.
