Funds Solicitation Start Date Set for CSC II Expansion

On June 9 the Community Service Center No. 2 funds drive begins with the Roswell Woman's Club responsible for raising about 20000 dollars. Ben Ginsberg chairs a facing committee of directors from both centers. Mrs. Crawford Asrey leads the campaign with Mrs. Ben Child and others. The club has donated 500 dollars, with another 500 pledged by groups at Walker Air Force Base. Will C. Lawrence to host a 100-member breakfast for Woman's Club solicitors. Plan may include house to house canvassing. participation by city’s colored residents is noted.

Cadets Receive Multiple Scholarships at NM Military Institute

The 60th annual graduation exercises at Pearson Auditorium saw New Mexico Military Institute awarding numerous scholarships and prizes to cadets and non graduates. B B Armstrong announced NMMI scholarships to cadets from each class and several named awards including the Will C. Lawrence, Herman Fleischman, Preisler, Virgil Lusk, Walter H. Boyd Memorial, Truman O Boyd Memorial, and General Douglas MacArthur Scholarships to a range of cadets from Albuquerque Roswell Billings Tucson and other places.

Petition Deadline for Bernalillo County Grand Jury Probe

In Albuquerque sponsors must file by Friday 9 a.m. with sufficient signatures to call a Bernalillo County grand jury investigation of last fall's general election. The petition had 86 signatures. 60 are required and 75 signatures meet the calling threshold but 60 are deemed acceptable by Dist. Judge Waldo Rogers.

Commissions for 29 Cadets Highlight NMMI Exercises

County School Chief Carrol White to Return from Santa Fe

Carrol White, county school superintendent, is expected back from Santa Fe tomorrow or Friday after leaving Roswell yesterday on a capital area business trip.

Inflation Doubles Marriage License Fee in County Clerk Office

Beginning July 1 the fee for a marriage license issued at the county clerk department will rise from 2.50 to 5. The clerk Dorothy Her ring says nearly every fee in her department will be hiked under legislative authorization. The changes include chattel mortgages releases deeds and liens with a circul ar notice forthcoming.

Ten Defendants Named in Suits on Water Rights

Ten defendants are named in equal suits filed in district court on the Pecos River water use issue. The State of New Mexico on the relation of John H. Bliss, state engineer, sues for irrigation rights claiming no valid right existed for use of Pecos River water for the described tracts. Blind law student weds Israeli coed in Chicago romance

Burton Kolman a Chicago blind law student and Anita Gubali from near Tel Aviv married after two months courtship at DePaul University. Kolman, 21, blinded in a baseball accident, posted top marks at the DePaul School of Law and plans to practice law with his wife. The couple will resume studies after a Wisconsin wedding trip as they envision a joint legal career.
