Grape vine propagation by cuttings and layering methods
Grape varieties can be propagated from softwood semi-hardwood and hardwood cuttings. The article explains steps: select cuttings 4 to 6 inches, cut below a node, dip base in water then rooting hormone, plant in moist potting soil, keep in a humid location until roots form, then transplant. Hardwood cuttings stored in refrigerator until late winter, then potted and warmed to grow. Layering is another method, wound stem near soil, bury, and separate after roots form. The piece also notes success rates vary and suggests trying multiple stems and provides contact for more info at NMSU Extension.
