Nixon confident as House weighs impeachment vote

President Nixon remains confident the House will not vote to impeach despite the Judiciary Committee recommending impeachment. A press secretary statement issued an hour after the vote argued there is no sufficient evidence to support impeachment and urged full House recognition of this view.

Roswell Telephone Service Faces Possible Nationwide Strike

Mountain Bell Roswell manager Teddy Spurlin says average local calls likely continue but installations and new construction would halt if a nationwide CWA strike occurs late this month or in August. Local dialing should stay reliable, long distance dialing aided by direct dialing, with emergency repairs and some operator calls kept.
