Harding and Brown Nominees for Ohio Governor Ticket

The Ohio Platform reports Warren G. Harding for governor with F. W. Treadway as lieutenant governor and Cranville W. McOney as secretary of state after a hard fought Republican convention. The Progressives tariff plank was voted down, and the ticket was adopted with Harding and Judge O. B. Brown named for governor.

Helena July 27. Governor Norris orders Company L of the Montana National Guards to assist Lib by in fighting forest fires. Serious fires blaze in the Big Snowy Forest Reserve near Kalispell but fighters make little headway and fires are not increasing.

Prather and Barnard Identified as Suspects in Windsor Killing

Deputy Sheriff Young received a second telephone report from Broncho on the Texas New Mexico line detailing the shooting of D. P. Windsor. Ed Barnard and C. E. Prather are accused of the killing, with timing unclear between yesterday morning and the day before. They were linked to indictments against Windsor and his son over horse-throat cutting as witnesses against the defendants. Roswell authorities have long anticipated trouble between the parties along the Texas border.

Men Sign Up for California Trip From Battery A

About forty members signed up at a meeting for Battery A to join the inter state encampment at Atascadero California. The minimum thirty eight troops are required with more expected before lists close. A special Pecos Valley train will carry troops from Carlsbad Roswell Clovis Vaughn toward Albuquerque with meals and coffee en route.

The Iowa Democratic state convention in Ottumwa hears Jerry B. Sullivan as temporary chairman and adopts a platform denouncing Republican policies. J L Sayls Survives Back Injury At Gravel Pit

J L Sayls, 67, who suffered a back fracture at the L B Craig gravel pit yesterday, has survived the initial shock. The physician reports the fracture reduced and parts realigned, but says no hope for recovery. The man has no sensation or movement below the broken spine.

Four Foot Rise In Hondo River Headed Toward Roswell

Mrs. L. C. Klasner reports from Picacho that a four foot rise in the Hondo River is coming downstream. Rain in the Pajaroito mountains fed water into canyon outlets two or three days ago. The surge is expected to reach Roswell today or tonight.

Birth rate only five six percent above death rate

Oyster Bay New York census data shows a birth rate only five to six percent higher than the death rate. Nearby localities report twice as good a showing, reflecting a very low population growth in Oyster Bay as of July.

Rescue Stations For Mine Disasters On Railroad Cars

The Federal Bureau of Mines ordered two portable rescue stations on railroad cars for immediate mine disaster calls in the West.
