County fair winds down with 4-H and FFA memories

The Chaves County 4-H and FFA Fair ends at the ENMSF with students gaining knowledge through competitions. Bailey Swinney, a senior home-schooled student attending Goddard High agriculture classes, reflects on one last fair while a steer named Bean earns second in the steer division and qualifies for the Junior Livestock Sale. School supply giveaway set for Saturday in Roswell

Rev. Jim Ridgeway hosts a community event on the Chaves County Courthouse lawn from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday offering free backpacks pens paper notebooks and other supplies to 1st through 12th graders. Organizers began collecting items two weeks ago and expect up to 200 children. Donations accepted at three local drop spots and pickup may be arranged by calling 575 626 5358.

Planning and Zoning Commission backs cannabis code update

Planning and Zoning Commissioners advance a proposal to repeal Roswell's cannabis ordinance and business zoning code. City Attorney Hess Yntema and Jessica Vickers lead the update.
