In Santa Clara more than 600000 Cubans were expected to flood Las Villas capital to join Prime Minister Fidel Castro for the 15th anniversary of his revolutionary movement. The event highlighted a festive atmosphere with broad public turnout and official celebration plans.

Mrs. Mary Jane Black of Atchison Kan told a judge that her doctor ordered driving the family car at high speeds to relieve tension. Magistrate Margaret Young fined her 50 dollars and court costs and recommended a change in doctors after witnesses said she pulled out to pass a car into oncoming traffic.
The three day Fourth Annual Youth Conference at the Adult Education Center concluded with Roger Easley of Albuquerque urging youth to act on their beliefs. Gov. President Johnson met with independent candidate George C. Wallace to brief him on foreign policy including Paris peace talks and Vietnam. Wallace, campaigning for the American Independent party, was briefed at the State Department by Secretary of State Dean Rusk and aides.
Sen Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts announces he will not pursue the Democratic vice presidential nomination this year, citing personal family responsibilities after the assassination of Robert Kennedy. He remains ready to discuss foreign and domestic policy and will support the party’s ticket.
