The Roswell Infrastructure Committee unanimously recommends terminating the Yucca Recreation Center RFP after a single slim proposal failed to meet a $100 000 reserve. The panel notes demolition costs, bids from other firms, and possible funding from the Clean and Safe Program while offering the public a final chance to negotiate a sale.
A Roswell man, Daniel N. Urganda, 69, died from injuries after a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 70 near mile post 307 between Roswell and Hondo. A 23-year-old Hobbs man driving a Chevy pickup, plus a 24-year-old Hobbs woman and a five-month-old Hobbs child, were hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries. Alcohol was not a factor. belts were used. The crash remains under investigation.
