Troops Use In Washington Keep Order Amid Mobs

Carlsbad Boy Scouts suffer severe accident near Cloudcroft

A Carlsbad troop of ten Boy Scouts, returning from a ten day camp near Cloudcroft with the El Paso scouts, were hurt when their truck overturned on a steep hill one mile south of Cloudcroft. Nine remained with the vehicle as it toppled. six feared fatally injured. A turnout brake failure caused the crash. Scoutmaster Will Purdy rendered aid and aided transport to a Fort Bliss base hospital via army ambulances after reaching Cloudcroft.
