In Albuquerque police end a 10 day strike by a 303 to 125 vote accepting a two year contract boosting pay about 11 percent and increasing the nontaxable uniform allowance. The agreement reinstates all strikers and involves demotions for seven sergeants.
Roswell faced storms dumping 1.33 inches and a ranch nearby 4.95 inches, flooding streets and stalling cars. A Monday afternoon house fire is tied to lightning. NWS at Roswell says 24 hour rainfall totals reach 4.90 inches with more rain and warmer temps to Wednesday. Police report flooded intersections, street closures, and two minor accidents during the 5 p.m. rush.
State police report Pine Lodge Road north of Roswell washed out and North Montana crossing flooded. Roads along Hwy 18 Lovington Hobbs and US 62 180 west of Hobbs also waterlogged as rainfall drenches ranches around Roswell with several inches recorded.
State Highway Department data show San Juan County leading non interstate road contracts with over 32 million in twenty years while Chaves ranks near bottom. Rio Arriba follows San Juan in total primary and secondary road expenditures. Bernalillo, McKinley and Doña Ana top county totals overall.

Ed White, believed to be Portales’s oldest resident, died at Roosevelt General Hospital at age 85.
