Melvin Richard Jones 22 of Roswell Texas died in a motorcycle crash near Portsmouth New Hampshire while serving in the U S Navy. Born July 8 1932 in Robertstown Texas he moved to Roswell with his family in 1939 and graduated from Roswell High School on the Honor Roll in 1951. Survived by eight siblings and his grandmother of Gladwater Texas his body will be returned to Roswell for funeral services under Ballard Funeral Home arrangements.

Forecast Continued Temperatures Rise For State Today
The Associated Press reports a continued but slight rise in New Mexico temperatures today as the Albuquerque District Weather Bureau forecasts higher readings. Yesterday four stations hit or exceeded the 100 degree mark with Carlsbad at 102 Roswell 101 and Socorro Tucumcari at 100. Overnight temperatures were 75 in Carlsbad and 74 in Albuquerque. Showers persisted with Columbus at .23 inch and other totals including Silver City .14 Glenwood .10 Raton .07 Clayton .06 and Gallup .04. Additional showers are forecast for late today or tonight.
