Chicago Youths Charged With Slaying Policemen

Three suspects including a 15 year old were charged with murder in the sniper killing of two Chicago community relations officers at Cabrini Green. Police identified two others as Sidney Bennett 18 and Clifford Knigts 23. Investigators recovered two 36 50 rifles and several handguns as residents described fear and relief after the killings.

RHS Reunion Banquet Honors Adm Hannifin and Class Winners

Miss New Mexico 1964: Janis Lynn Jones of Raton crowned

Janis Lynn Jones, 26, a French and English major from Raton representing Colfax County, was named Miss New Mexico at Hobbs. She will compete at Miss America in Atlantic City. First runner up Evelyn Wasson of Hobbs, second runner up Lynn Phillips of Ruidoso, and Miss Congeniality Rita Nephew of Bosque Farms were also announced. Jones, daughter of Roy and Roe Jones, notes daily two mile runs as her beauty secret.

Aerialist Karl Wallenda Walks Tallulah Gorge Cable

Famed aerialist Karl Wallenda inched a 2-inch thick cable across Tallulah Gorge Georgia 700 feet above the bottom pausing to stand on his head twice as about 59 000 spectators watched He claimed a world stunt record though Guinness cites a Monte Carlo walk of 2640 feet The event promoted a new amphitheater Wallenda praised God and stated the stunt was for the boys in Vietnam
