Fern Sawyer a longtime Lincoln County rancher and former State Fair Commission member was named advisory director to the Eastern New Mexico State Fair board by ENM State Fair board president Hud Rhea during a Roswell press conference. Sawyer born near Yeso grew up on a ranch and rose through rodeo to become All Around World Champion Cowgirl in 1947. The Sept. 23 27 fair will mark her new role among 11 active and three ex officio board members.
