Firefighters burn out areas to finish containment of the Las Conchas wildfire now 63 percent contained after burning nearly 151000 acres since June 26. More than fifty homes destroyed as the blaze moved through Cochiti Mesa and Peralta Canyon with potential heavy smoke drifting to Ponderosa Jemez Springs Vallecitos de los Indios Sierra de los Pinos and La Cueva. Communities north and northwest may experience smoke but officials say the fire remains contained.

Redistricting Committee to Meet Tuesday in Roswell
The Legislative Redistricting Committee will meet at 9 a m Tuesday at the Daniels Leadership Center on the New Mexico Military Institute campus in Roswell to propose new boundaries for congressional House and Senate districts as well as Public Regulation and Public Education Commission districts.
