Gilliland’s lifelong work ethic spans army to Roswell leadership
Gilliland recalls a 1946 Panhandle A&M graduation and a Korea era Air Force enlistment. He later built a career with Southwestern Public Service, reading meters during a dust storm and rising to district manager. He served in Kiwanis and Rotary, chaired Red Cross and United Way boards, moved from Clovis to Lubbock then Roswell, and endured his wife’s 2008 death. His outlook comes from a loving grandmother who spoke of God’s love.
