Clinton urges Morsi dialogue to steer Egypt transition
U S secretary of state Hillary Clinton, during a first meeting with Egypt's president Mohammed Morsi, pressed for dialogue with the military to advance the civilian transition. She voiced support for the full transition and stressed U S backing while urging adherence to the 1979 Israel peace treaty and continued counterterrorism cooperation. Clinton pledged financial aid, debt relief, investment funds, and a September business delegation to Cairo as talks continued with Egypt's generals and foreign minister.
