U.S. CH47 Chinook shot down over the DMZ as North Korea says the crew ignored warnings. Four aboard: Sgt. Robert C. Haynes, Sgt. Ron Wells, CWO Glenn M. Schwanke, and CWO Joseph A. Miles. A Cessna 206 crashed near Ramon killing pilot Kenneth Richard Parker. Police found marijuana seeds on board and believe a drug shipment was delivered nearby earlier. Parker died from head and internal injuries after the wreck. The aircraft registered to McKay Barr Corp of Boise.
District Court Judge Gene Franchini blocked Atty. Gen. Toney Anaya from prosecuting Democratic committeeman Rudy Ortiz on bribery and conspiracy charges. A hearing is set for July 25 as Ortiz seeks 7 million dollars in damages from Anaya.
