Memorial service for Colleen Doyle set in Roswell
A memorial service for Colleen Nicole Doyle is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday July 16 2011 at Gateway Christian Church Roswell for the Phoenix resident and former Roswell student Colleen Doyle who died July 3 2011 in a Texas traffic crash. The service will be officiated by Troy Grant of Berrendo Baptist Church. Colleen, born September 6 1982 in Roswell to Jim and Jane Meeker, lived in Roswell most of her life and worked in health care while pursuing further study in radiography at Gateway Community College Phoenix. Funds have been established for McKenzie Doyle and Colleen Doyle scholarships, with donations directed to First American Bank Roswell NM or Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation. A separate funeral service for Colleen Doyle is planned in Phoenix July 23 2011 at Hansen Mortuary.

Man faces seventh DWI charge in Roswell incident
Robert Romero, 66, is charged with his seventh DWI after leading police on a dangerous drive on Sunset Avenue. He crashed into a Saddlecreek Apartments lot and a Storage Nest unit, damaging multiple properties and injuring only himself. Blood tests were pending with results expected in about a month.
