El Paso youth rescues Roswell widow from flood waters
Joel D. Davis, 20, of El Paso, tied a rope to his waist and swam about 100 feet to reach Billie B. Harper, 52, of Roswell, whose car was swept from an access road by 10 feet of floodwater. He pulled her through the car window and they were rescued by neighbors and state police. Harper, widow of Billie B. Harper, was hospitalized in good condition with exposure and bruises. Davis was released after overnight observation.
