One Serious Accident On Fourth At Roswell
On Independence Day Roswell saw quiet celebrations with few disturbances. Miss Leora Jones was accidentally shot in the thigh during a Ber rendo picnic when a revolver discharged while loading. Fred Hunt mishandled a cartridge, causing the accident. Jones’s wound was described dangerous but she rested well. Dexter and Carlsbad hosted large crowds, a Dexter train carried 225 Roswell residents, and Carlsbad 45. Carlsbad beat Artesia 13 to 3 in a ball game amid multiple races and a barbecue.
Water meeting postponed in Roswell club rooms
