Lost Skier Found Safe After Nighttime Stranding on Sierra Blanca
John Noblet a 19 year old University of Houston freshman was found safe after spending Friday night in minus temperatures on the west side of Sierra Blanca. He wandered from Meadows Run and was spotted from air by two private planes before being rescued by ski staff. Noblet said he survived cold hunger and exhaustion by resting under pine branches and signaling with bright yellow skis. The rescue involved Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation search teams and ski personnel. authorities noted prior incidents of six Texas skiers lost in the same area.
