Walker Aviation Museum Wins 2011 Peace Through Strength Grant
The Association of Air Force Missileers awarded the Walker Aviation Museum Foundation a 2300 grant to create an exhibit at Roswell International Air Center. Titled Peace Through Strength the display will document the 579th Missile Squadron's Cold War role at Walker AFB showing missile operations living in a silo and the later use of Atlas F missiles in space ventures. The exhibit aims to open in April with artifacts and a timeline to educate students and the public about local defense history.
