New Mexico uranium tax bill aims for 117 million by 1985

Roswell legislator Colin McMillan introduces a bill to raise uranium taxes to 2.55 percent resources excise and 3.75 percent gross value tax, cut processors tax, tax at severance, with deductions for trucking and royalties. Scouters Plan Annual Banquet in Roswell

More than 250.scouters and their wives from southeastern New Mexico will celebrate the 54th year of scouting in the Conquistador Council at a 6 p.m. Saturday banquet at the Roswell Country Club. A sequence of blasts on the Exxon San Francisco tanker during loading at the Baytown refinery caused 17 injuries and four missing. A tugboat sank, a fire broke out, and at least 45 residents were evacuated as three crew members from the Nathan B and one from the CVS Brilliance were involved.

NMMI Bill Seeks All Male Cadet Corps in New Mexico

Legislation to amend the state constitution to exempt the New Mexico Military Institute Corps of Cadets from the ERA and keep the program all male was sent to the Senate Rules Committee. Sponsor Sen. R E Thompson said constituents favor an all male corps, while women may attend classes but not join or graduate from NMMI.
