Roswell radio host and community volunteers arrange an auction on KRSY for the March of Dimes. Ducks Harvey and Hildegard will be bid on Saturday, with owners hoping they are house trained in time, despite a few quirks.
Valencia County sheriff and district attorney report several suspects but little evidence in a horse killing and barbed wire fence cutting incident north of Belen. Two horses were shot and left to die and a fence was cut for about two miles.
In Santa Fe House debate Rep Finis Heidel proposes two tax measures raising sales tax to 6 percent and a 300 percent surtax on income to generate about 72 million dollars for 1969 70. Memorial passes 66 to 0 as other bills on runoff primaries ballot rotation stamps discounts and local assessment ratios are introduced.
John Jasper, director of Health and Social Services, faces a high profile probe by a blue ribbon joint committee led by Rep. John Mershon and Sen. Harold Runnels.
