The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration reports about 290000 scam contacts since October 2013 and nearly 3000 victims who have paid over 14 million dollars to fraudsters posing as IRS officials. The IRS released a YouTube video warning taxpayers and offering tips to spot imposters and protect personal information. Citizens urged to call the IRS at 1 800 829 1040 if they owe taxes and to report incidents to TIGTA or the FTC.
