Uncle Kit Carson Tale Retold in Roswell History Series
Historically speaking this installment traces William “Uncle Kit” Carson known for wild claims of kinship to Kit Carson. Born Oran Ardious Woodman in 1870 in Zanesville Ohio, he wandered with Wild West shows, created several alter egos, and used daughter Pansy as a unifying figure in his life stories. The piece notes census moves, marriages, show tours, and a 1998 book by Eloise Woodman that clarifies his life while preserving his legendary persona.
