Second Balloon Launched By National Center for Atmospheric Research
The National Center for Atmospheric Research launched its second engineering test balloon at 6 51 a m. It cruised at 80 000 feet by 8 a m rising with all systems go. The two million cubic footer will be terminated 50 miles SSE of Midland Texas at 2 30 p m with payload recovery 30 miles west of San Angelo Texas. The tests aim to measure cosmic and gamma rays and study earth temperature. Dusty Rhoads says the next launch could come within days in the evening weather permitting.
