William Wayne Gilbert 30, a Vietnam veteran jailed without bond, confessed to six gunshot and strangulation murders while serving as an informant for the DEA and New Mexico authorities. He faces arraignment for four killings, including the deaths of his wife Carol and the Johnsons, and led police to Barbara McMullan’s body.
Vandals broke into Edgewood Elementary School at 701 N. Garden Ave causing about 50000 in damage. A portable reading room worth 40000 was gutted by fire believed to be arson. Six rooms were hit as windows lights and a hallway display were damaged.
