Bond raised in Keefe shooting case in Roswell
Bernard Joseph Keefe 24 of Route 2 Box 81 had his bond increased from 10000 to 50000 by Magistrate Judge Clyde McKee. He remains jailed in Chaves County in connection with the Sunday shooting death of Gary Michael Balch 22 of 302 S Michigan Ave. Vernon Morgan 59 of 1412 S Jackson St was sentenced by Judge Paul Snead to one to five years in the state penitentiary on statutory rape charges. Homer Lee Warner 22 known as Rie Rie Dou Dou of 92 E Jefferson St was sentenced by Judge Kermit Nash to six months in the county jail on burglary. Nash also sentenced Welda Derr 1010 N Plains Park Dr to one to five years in prison on four counts of fraud with time already served suspended and one year probation with restitution due in a year. Derr changed plea to guilty on count one of fraud.
