The Eisenhower budget for fiscal 1958 proposes $71.8 billion in spending and $73.6 billion in revenue. Per capita figures show $416 for spending and $427 for revenue, based on a 172.5 million population, marking continued per-person increases since 1955.

An Israeli army spokesman said two Arab infiltrators were killed last night in the southern Negev Desert. The claim follows border tensions and ongoing security operations in the region.
Rival ambulance crews and doctors clashed while aiding victims at the scene. One would be rescuer broke his hand and others were injured. The bus collided with a car and was struck by a streetcar, killing the driver and injuring twenty.

Brown, jailed April 1954, received parole after a four count sentence of two to two and a half years for breaking and entering and grand larceny. Gilbert R. Garrett, jailed December 1955, had his case taken under advisement for one to three years and three months to three years for break in and entry.
A New Mexico spokesman at the 15 state drought conference says American farmers seek only temporary help to tide them through drought. Mark Rickman of Lamesa New Mexico named to a six member committee to present progress reports to President Eisenhower. He noted a strong feeling against repeatedly seeking federal aid for natural disasters and drew applause. The President grinned as Rickman said Americans should first solve troubles without outside help.
Mrs. Tom Brown wife of the Democratic National Committeeman was in a hospital in Santa Fe for diagnosis and x ray studies after being brought from her hotel with back pains.
An F86D jet crashed ten miles northwest of Perrin Air Force Base killing the pilot 2nd Lt. William E. Mann 23 son of Mr and Mrs William A Mann of Council Grove Kansas The Air Force identified him.
Two Des Moines residents were killed when a headon collision occurred on a hill in a no passing zone about 29 miles west of Des Moines on U S 66. Dale W Williams 24 Miss Dean Jones 32 and other occupants were injured or unmentioned. The crash happened as Richard M Tracy 32 from C Quima Calif attempted to pass a truck.
A federal survey shows Roswell spends 191.70 per pupil in full time public schooling, below the 277.37 average for similarly sized cities and 276.52 nationwide. The report notes one teacher per 23 pupils locally versus 24 elsewhere, highlighting funding gaps as US talks of classroom expansion and new teachers.
