Community College Site Gift Approved by Roswell Board

The Roswell Board of Education approved Olen Featherstone’s gift of 200 acres and $39,000 cash valued at $172,500 for a community college site plus 20 adjoining acres from Virgil Haley. The project basis includes state and federal funding potential and a forthcoming Regents review.

Berserk 70 year old gunman wounds 30 at California poker parlors

In Gardens California a 70 year old man fired into the Rainbow Club and other poker parlors injuring more than 30. Louis Koullapis was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a gun battle in which he fired from a front seat with six guns. Bandit Given Life Sentence For 1964 Dial Finance Robbery

Floyd Earl Dalrymple, one of two men charged in the Aug. 5, 1964 armed holdup of the Dial Finance Co., was sentenced to life imprisonment with no parole after a Roswell jury found him a habitual criminal. Sentencing followed a pre sentence report. Dalrymple has three prior Texas convictions for hot checks, making him a four time offender under New Mexico law.
