Bush orders review of pension rules after Enron collapse

President Bush ordered his economic team to review pension rules to protect workers as Enron's bankruptcy spurred questions about safeguards. The move follows a Justice Department probe into Enron and heightened scrutiny of ties to the administration. Lay and other executives had financial ties to Bush. Officials stress lessons from Enron without pursuing an independent prosecutor. The review will assess laws and loopholes affecting worker pension plans amid ongoing lawsuits by employees and investors.
