In Artesia a two car crash late Friday killed Lora Mae Robertson 31 and her son Richard Robert 6. Andrew McKinney 49 drove the truck. husband James Robertson 36 and son Billy 5 survived. The deaths are Eddy County's first for the year.

Braniff Airways President Dies In Fiery Crash
Braniff International Airways president Thomas Braniff and Texas Eastern Gas president R H Hargrove were among ten passengers and two pilots killed when a seaplane crashed near Wallace Lake ten miles south of Shreveport Louisiana. The United Gas Co aircraft burned for over two hours after plowing into a house. Survivors were none. The passenger list included Braniff 70, Hargrove 57, banker Chris Abbott 65, map firm head Edgar Tobin 58, and Justin Querbes Sr 61. The crash occurred during a hunting trip in the Louisiana marshes near the Gulf Coast.
