Cadet Hurt Severely in Ski Accident

Water meters ordered for Roswell Basin irrigation

Declining Births Evident for 1965

The Public Health Service says births in 1965 fell to about 3.8 million, the lowest since 1951. Estimated totals compare with 4,027,490 in 1964 and about 3,751,000 in 1951, marking 1965 as the first under four million since 1953. The estimate follows October 1965 statistics released today.

Storage Tank Explodes at Randall Grocery in Roswell

A kerosene storage tank exploded beside Randall Grocery at 408 S Garden in southeast Roswell. The blast blew a end from the 200 gallon tank and shattered a store window. Firemen blamed accumulated trash and a discarded cigarette for the explosion. No injuries were reported. John T Randall owned the store and tank.

Fines Asked For Unions In Transit Authority Court

The Transit Authority sought heavy fines against striking subway and bus unions as negotiators paused after an all night session at City Hall. Officials claimed losses at 322000 dollars daily while traffic surged with an all time high of about 850000 vehicles entering Manhattan by late morning.

Fire damages home near Roswell after explosion

An explosion preceded an early morning fire at a five room house one mile south of Janss Cattle Industries on U.S. 285. Fire crews from Roswell Dexter and East Grand Plains fought the blaze beginning at 6 a.m. heavy damage to kitchen and bath. Cause undetermined.
