Welter Objects to Primary Call at Roswell Precinct Meeting

About seventy five voters in Roswell Northington precinct attended a mass meeting at the courthouse to choose a candidate for justice of the peace. A. J. Welter, Democratic precinct chairman, explained he opposed a primary to keep party lines out, while other speakers urged settling on one candidate or widening participation. The meeting adjourned without a decision.

Presidential Appointments Nominate Army Officers and Postmasters

The President sent nominations to the Senate including Edward R. Godfrey to brigadier general and appointments of A. T. Nogales and M. Pohall as postmasters at Dawson New Mexico and Nogales Arizona respectively. T. C. Hill named postmaster at Dawson New Mexico.

Whooping Cough Fatal Ties To TB In W. Ninth Street Death

Mrs. W. W. Earl aged 30 died Tuesday at 11 am at 809 West Ninth street as a direct result of whooping cough settling on the lungs with tuberculosis listed as an indirect cause. A Christian Church member since girlhood she was a wife and mother of three. She leaves a husband, father, mother and three children. Remains were sent to Centralia Missouri for burial.
