Johnson appoints two more to New Mexico cabinet
Gov elect Gary Johnson names Jennifer Salisbury to head the Energy Minerals and Natural Resources Department and Gary Bratcher to lead the Economic Development Department. Salisbury, a Corrales lawyer and former deputy assistant secretary in Interior, helped manage land and minerals policy. Bratcher, a Del Monte veteran and Artesia native, will pursue business recruitment and growth for the state.

Grand Junction Colorado AP A 72 year old rancher Riney Hablutzel plans to slaughter one of his 78 emus at a Denver processing plant. Meat priced at 5 dollars a pound. The plant serves Western Slope growers hauling 60 birds total. Emu industry touted for health meat and pharma cosmetic uses.

King ends term as New Mexico governor with farewell day
Governor Bruce King packed up his Santa Fe offices on his last workday ending a 12 of 24 year tenure across three non consecutive terms. He and staff exchanged tears and hugs as desks emptied and farewell calls and lunches marked the finale before Republican Gary Johnson takes office.
