Dr Robert V. Anderson co chairman of ENMMC Disaster Committee administers triage to Roswell High School senior Stacey Berry during a disaster drill. Berry, 17, is in the Nurse Aide Program in Roswell ISD as ENMMC conducts twice yearly drills to prep for disasters.
Laser gun promoter Gene Robbins leaves an empty house in Roswell after taking a $950 deposit from Jonathan Ciener for a demonstration model. Robbins failed to deliver the laser pistol and vanished, with U S officials noting possible mail fraud. Investigators report Robbins moved from Illinois, advertised in Popular Science, and cut contact with reporters and a private investigator.
Sen Wood resigned last weekend and Brainerd said he will decide in two weeks while Harrison announced his candidacy on Wednesday. The Republican race centers on Roswell District 31 with Roosevelt County as a key swing area. Harrison, 30, farms in Arch with family, runs Valley Flying Service at Portales and studied at Eastern New Mexico University. Both candidates support right to work and focus on national debt and natural resources management.
A defectors couple from the People’s Temple, Al Mills and Jeannie Mills, were killed in their Berkeley residence once used as a haven for cult defectors. Their daughter Daphne was critically wounded and son Eddie unharmed as the attack occurred Tuesday night. A separate Brooklyn incident left a man shot in the back with an arrow as he entered a subway station. In Georgetown Guyana, Radio Surinam reported a civilian council to aid the military junta, not replace it, as a transitional measure.
