Ray Holland Jr. of Roswell's Airplane Kite Co. rose from hobbyist to designer and founder of the Airplane Kite Co. after moving to Roswell in 1946. He developed the Blackhawk model, the first aerodynamically balanced kite needing no tail, and now holds patents on most of his 12 kite designs.
