Glover Civil Leader Homer Glover dies at 65 in Roswell
Homer F. Glover 65 of South Springs Acres died at home Monday after two months of illness. As head of Glover Inc a Roswell meat packing firm with payrolls around two million and annual livestock purchases of twenty million he led civic and industry efforts across New Mexico. He served on the New Mexico Military Institute board for 12 years and helped found RIDC shaping Roswell’s economy. Funeral Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Pearson Auditorium with Masonic graveside rites. He is survived by wife Norma and children Homer Gene and Mary Lynn, plus siblings and extended family. Burial at South Park Cemetery.

Hearings Open On Gas Plan To Fund Wells In Albuquerque
The New Mexico Public Service Commission opened a public hearing on Southern Union Gas Company's plan to advance up to 3 million dollars to Shell Oil Co to fund four exploratory gas wells in the Albuquerque trough. If gas is found Southern Union would gain exclusive long term purchase rights on about 150 000 acres. The plan would let the company charge customers immediately for drilling and reimburse advances if a well yields crude oil commercially. Average residential cost estimated at 4 08 dollars and commercial at 19 10 dollars.
