Objections filed to Southern Union Shell plan in New Mexico
A pair of Roswell attorneys A D Solsberg and Joe Beaty amended objections to a proposed agreement where Southern Union Gas would pay Shell Oil 3 million dollars to drill gas wells in the Albuquerque trough and charge customers for the cost. They say the plan violates the Securities and Exchange Act and amounts to a public offering to fund a speculative venture. A Santa Fe hearing is set for 9 30 a m in Room 339 Capitol Building with District Attorney Lee Cathey and Chaves County Commission objections. Albuquerque will be represented as well. Shell would drill exploratory wells and production would be sold to Southern Union if the wells succeed, with rate hikes sought to offset costs.
