Two American Girls Die After Plane Plunge Over London

Elizabeth and Jane Du Bois, daughters of the United States consul general in Naples, fell from a commercial airplane en route to Paris at 1,500 feet. Witnesses say they clasped hands in a final embrace as they plunged to the countryside near Upminster Essex. Their fiancés, Royal Air Force officers, were killed previously in Italy.

DU BOIS SISTERS DIE IN PLANE CRASH OVER CHANNEL

Elizabeth and Jane Du Bois of San Francisco daughters of a U S consul general perished 1500 feet above the channel when an airplane bound for Paris plummeted. They were alone with the pilot and had reserved all seats, witnesses recount the sisters clasped hand in hand as the craft fell, pilot J Kirton did not survive in the crash verdict.

Hauptmann’s execution stayed as writ filed in New Jersey

The court of errors and appeals must receive the records by March 12 with May term opening May 21 and possible postponement requests for October if needed.

Two 15 aboard sailing crafts reported missing

Miami Fia. Feb 21 AP Two sailing craft with 15 aboard from the Miami to Nassau race were unaccounted for on the return to Miami. The ketch Esperanza owned by S W Parish of Beaumont Tex with Captain Carl Holm and seven crew was listed missing. The auxiliary cruiser Sankt owned by Alexander C Howe of Port Washington NY with five crew was also unreported.

Unusual Operation Performed At Santa Fe

Dr. Dwight W. Rife at St Vincent hospital in Santa Fe performed an unusual operation to remove an open safety pin from an eight month old baby of Mr and Mrs Gates Angle. X rays were taken and the stomach opened. the pin was drawn into a rubber tube passed down the throat and withdrawn through the tube.

Betlach Boy Improves After 149 Days in Respirator

Fred Betlach 15 of Spokane is reported to show improvement on the 149th day of confinement in a mechanical respirator. Doctor Silas Yarnell notes the infantile paralysis patient, whose lungs collapsed last September, had a recent relapse but now shows a hopeful turn.

Boy Killed by Car Near Clovis New Mexico

A nine year old, Arlist Chandler Jr., was struck and killed on the highway west of Clovis, New Mexico, Tuesday night. Investigators found a headlight piece. several people think they saw a car after the crash, but no eye witnesses are known.

Carlsbad Men Accused of Passing Counterfeit Money

Two Carlsbad residents George Lewis and Clif ford Kid were arrested in Artesia after allegedly passing counterfeit bills at a hotel. Eddy County officers traced several other bogus notes to the pair and will likely turn them over to federal authorities for action.
