Three day summit focuses on stopping abuse neglect exploitation and trafficking of youths. Local professionals including those in schools and youth groups gathered for training to spot grooming and coercion and prepare for an April regional action summit.
Cody Herbain, 21, of Roswell, pled not guilty in Fifth Judicial District Court to aggravated assault on a peace officer with a deadly weapon and aggravated fleeing a law enforcement officer. A June 25 trial date was set. the chase involved a January pursuit by Chaves County Task Force and Roswell Police in an orange Dodge Dart.
Clovis resident Jessie Strauch, 73, received a Quilt of Valor in August 2023 honoring her Vietnam service. She described the surprise delivery as triggering vivid memories of drills, moves, and camaraderie with fellow service members.
Jonah Flores, 26, received 10 and a half years for shooting at a dwelling or occupied building and four years for aggravated assault. A separate four year term was added for receipt, per the 5th Judicial District Court records. Judge Thomas Lilley ordered the combined sentence.
